I've been recently experiencing blue screens with the error CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED caused by ntoskrnl.exe. This error has happened at least twice in the last week or so, including today. Here is some system information per your BSOD posting instructions:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
  • What was original installed OS on system? Windows 8
  • Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Ran the free "Get Windows 10 update" from Microsoft Windows Update.
  • Age of system (hardware): Purchased 2/15/2014.
  • Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? Upgraded to Windows 10 in July 2016.
  • CPU: Processor Intel® Core™ i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 1801 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
  • Video Card: Name NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, Name Intel® HD Graphics Family
  • System Manufacturer: Dell
  • Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom): Inspiron 17 7000 Series 7737
  • Laptop or Desktop? Laptop

The PerfMon system diagnostics report and the SysnativeFileCollectionApp zip files are attached.

Thank you for your help.

Only 1 memory dump in the uploaded reports.

If using a disk cleaner (such as CCleaner), please stop while we're troubleshooting

Your UEFI/BIOS (version A13) dates from 2015.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.
FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).

Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

This device is disabled in Device Manager:

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64    ROOT\NET\0000    This device is disabled.

Please uninstall it if it's not needed

If it is needed, please re-enable it and then update it to the latest, W10 compatible version.

One of the BSOD's listed in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report refers to a problem with the disk hardware.

Please run these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Start with the hard drive tests, but please finish them all and let us know the results

Please uninstall SuperAntiSpyware, it's drivers are very old

Please uninstall the Intel Smart Connect software, then go into the BIOS/UEFI and disable it there

Beyond this I have these suggestions:
1.  Get ALL available Windows Updates.  It may take several trips to get them all
2.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for your system from the manufacturer's website (to include BIOS/UEFI).
3.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for the programs and any additional hardware installed on your computer from the developer's website

If the BSOD's keep up after all of this, then please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html
