Black screen of death from dad'said desktop Asus Essential cm1630 AMD Athlon II X2 220 / 2.8 GHz
Windows 7 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

I think this virus related, either an attempted ransom ware or file compression virus, but who knows

Typical bKsod, computer boots looks like windows is loading, but screen goes dark with white arrow cursor

F8 boots allow Task Manager to run

"All New task run" end with Windows task maker has stopped working messages, close program is only option

I have tried f8
Repair your computer system repair
"No restore points have been created

Start up repair
Startup repair could not find a problem

Command prompt
Sfc /Scannow
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to continue
Requires a reboot which cancels the sfc

Tried F8
Enabled boot logging
Enabled low resolution video
Last known good configuration
Directory services restore mode
Debugging mode

Screen still black

At work we try System Restore.

If that doesn't work, we will backup the data, wipe the hard drive, and install a clean copy of Windows

I have spent weeks troubleshooting black screen errors - only to resort to the above.

There are many, many different suggestions for repairs on the web - but I find that they don't work well with the systems that I've tried to fix.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts.
