This might be a dumb question but I am new to this kind of stuff. When I connect to a server through WinSCP, is my security or privacy compromised in any way? Can the host machine see the files on my PC too? Thanks in advance!

That would depend on how the server is hosting the files. Is this a ssh server setup with public key-pair only and no root access?
