So I've encountered something frustrating today. This sounds like some form of adware, but all the usual scanning methods that I know of have not solved the problem at all.
I've recently found something called Trojan.Miuref in my computer, Malwarebytes already took care of that.
Another very worrying thing I also found is that my router's DNS somehow got changed to 126.96.36.199 without me ever prompting it. I feel like this is one of the effects of whatever is crawling through my computer. I fixed that manually now.
Right now, what I have left is certain websites' ads gets replaced with something else entirely, and it's strange behavior. This can only be the work of some serious adware that I still cannot remove myself.
So I seek bleepingcomputer's help, if you don't mind.
Screenshot 1: this is pixiv.net. Notice the ads which cater to pixiv-relevant users
Screenshot 2: But then after the page loads, it starts loading strange ads.
Pages that are affected by this have strange behavior:
-Ctrl+Click on a link will not only open a new tab for the link, but the current tab also opens the link. The latter should not happen; the original tab should not move.
-These websites are prone to hanging the tabs.
It should be noted that bleepingcomputer.com is also affected by this!
After attempting to view this site in different devices and not getting the same result, I'm convinced that my computer still has something crawling around in it.
Let me know what instructions I need to follow, such as logs I need to immediately retrieve. Thank you.
