My computer recently started having problems, concerning firewalls and the Base Filtering Engine.

I cannot start the Base Filtering Engine due to Error 5 and have scoured the internet for ways to fix this.

Windows Firewall and Windows Defender also do not start at all, due to them needing the Base Filtering Engine to work.

So far, I have not found anything that helped in starting the Base Filtering Engine.

I mainly need this fixed, because I thought it was just a simple error with my Avast Premier software, so I uninstalled it with the intentions of re-installing later.

However, Avast needs the Base Filtering Enginein order to install, which has left me in a vulnerable position of my own doing.

I have ran MalwareBytes, AdwCleaner and FarBar Recovery Scan Tool, all of which have yielded no results.

I use Windows 10 Pro

I have 16GB of RAM

I have a Intel i5-4690k which runs at 3.50 GHZ
