After looking over this forum it is evident that there are a few computer guru's here that do a great job assisting the average joe in correcting or repairing the many spyware and other type virus floating around on the net. Earlier this evening I was doing a trial run on a antivirus program called "StopZilla" and during the install it asked for me to select my homepage from a list. My usual homepage wasn't listed so I didn't select any HP from their list. After running the program I didn't care for it and subsequently unistalled it but my HP is now "hp-desktop.aol.com" and can not be changed by the normal methods. I ran Hi-Jack a few times and removed some ovious files/registers but can't get to stay away. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you.
I apologize for the delay getting to your log, the helpers here are very busy.

Your problem does not appear to be related to malware. It's possible that WinPatrol is "protecting" your home page from changing, and therefore blocking you from changing it as well. Disable it and then change your homepage and see if it sticks.

If not, post a fresh hijackthis log and we'll look for another culprit. :flowers:
Posted Image If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.

Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it!
