Mcafee Antivirus Installation Error

Hello...installed Mcafee Virusscan 8.0 last week and just yesterday an error message popped up and now it won't run...I uninstalled the program and tried to install but the same message continues to pop up and won't allow the completion...Error 1920-"Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Any help would be appreciate as I'm on my laptop and don't want to connect my desktop to the internet for fear of a virus with no protection..

Absolutely, as I'm the only one that's ever been on the computer and I doubled check it..I was hoping for a resolution in this forum as the Mcafee Forum is very difficult to post and get Tech Help...
