I have a HP ProBook 650, running win7.

I use a program that needs USB 2 not usb 3 that comes with this laptop.

Is there a way to make this work?

Do you have a plug and/or cord problem? USB2.0 has to work if USB3.0 is installed. But it depends on the software, there may be a need to re-install the driver. If so, then is recommended install driver(s) before connecting the software (for example printer) and You also should use original USB2.0 cord, if needed, use adapter.
NB! Simultaneously must not be connected to USB2.0 and USB3.0 equipments, then may happen, that does not work.
