When I log in, I cannot click any icons on my desktop. Sorry that's it's not very detailed but that's basically it. I found out though, that this only happens AFTER I see a warning message. So before this message, I CAN click icons. I'll try to get the message a little later. The message usually comes around 20 seconds after the desktop loads. Also, when I press and icons before the message, all programs don't apear in the taskbar.

Any body experience this? Thanks.

Update.exe- Unable to Loacte Component

The aplication has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the component may fix the problem.

That's the message.

Try downloading it in safe mode with networking.

When the computer boots in safe mode (accessed by tapping the F8 key repeatedly as soon as the computer starts booting and before Windows starts)
you should see a list of options, one of them being safe mode with networking (which will enable internet access).

The safe mode options are as follows:

Description of Safe Boot options
Safe Mode (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal):
This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows.
Safe Mode with Networking (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Network): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows together with the drivers that you must have to load networking.
Safe Mode with Command Prompt (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal (AlternateShell)): This option is the same as Safe mode, except that Cmd.exe starts instead of Windows Explorer.
Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.

Note Safe mode and Safe mode with Networking loads the Vga.sys driver instead.
Last Known Good Configuration: This option starts Windows by using the previous good configuration.

Try disabling your firewall when you download it.

If that isn't successful try the fix on the following site:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q110722

Also

Windows Installer 3.1 V2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803/en-us

And

Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
