I have been having this strange problem in windows update.

I am sure I have all the updates for windows. But lately whenever I try to do windows update I get a message that the latest updating software needs to be installed and resistered in your computer. Then it does install it and resister and shows 100%. Then suddenly I get an error message that it need to be reinstalled again.

This goes on forever till I get fed up and stop it. Also windows defender beta does not update. I have it installed since 120 days or more and it will not update. I do it manually and it always ends with an error that it can not update

I have all the virus scan, adware and spyware softwares and do regular checks and the computer is ok. I have done hijack this analysis and got it checked in a web site which does automatic analysis and tells all are ok.

So what is the problem?

Is Microsoft update website having problems?

Can any one help me

I would uninstall Windows Defender, reboot and reinstall it.

The following may be helpful as well:
Windows Installer 3.1 V2

Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
