I built a gaming computer in November of last year and have been constantly troubled with lockups and BSODs while playing video games. I haven't had a bluescreen in months, however and constantly have lockups while playing. I have run memory tests including the windows built in memory checker and mem86+, both came out clean and without errors. I had tested for errors in my hard drive, both of them (an SSD and HDD) have came up without errors. Furthermore, I tried the Intel Processor diagnostics tool and everything passed. 3D Mark, Prime 95 and Aida 64 passed after running them for at least a half an hour. My system is not overclocked in any way and has efficient cooling. Most of the time my screens freeze while playing and the only option I have is to hold down the power button to restart. As further tests, I removed my network card and headphones as well as drivers for both to see if the crashes still happen. To my disappointment, my computer still crashed which makes me believe it is either a faulty driver or hardware.

Here's my specs:

Specs:

  • i5-6600k

  • GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Edition

  • Asus Z170-A Motherboard

  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 8 GB (Dual Channel, 2400 MHz with XMP on)

  • EVGA Supernova G2 750W Power Supply

  • Windows 10 x64

Additional Specs:

  • TP-Link T9E Network Card

  • Plantronics Gamescom 780

  • SteelSeries Rival 300

Here's things I've tested (It's extensive)

- Reinstalled Windows 10 Home 4 times.
- Ran Memtest x86 3 seperate times. Passed both.
- Intel Processor Check 2 seperate times. Passed both.
- 30 minutes of Furmark 3 seperate times. Passed all.
- 17 minutes of Prime95. Passed.
- Computer crashed with and without XMP enabled.
- Computer crashed without having a network card/driver
- Computer crashed without having a headset/driver.
- Computer crashed without having a keyboard.
- Computer crashed with changed USB ports. Mouse LEDS turned off.
- Computer crashed with reseated RAM.
- Computer crashed with Debug mode activated on GTX 970.
- Computer crashed trying two different chipsets.
- Computer crashed after updating BIOS
- Computer crashed after updating Chipset
- Computer crashed after updating USB driver
- Computer crashed after updating audio driver
- Computer crashed after unplugged/replugging all cables.
- Computer crashed after running Unigene Heaven.

Sometimes the peripherals lose power when it "dies" too, but that only happens at random times.
I will attach any necessary files. Thank you.

Start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Please run this report collecting tool so that we can provide a complete analysis: (from the pinned topic at the top of the forum)   http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/
FYI - I don't often use the Perfmon report, so if it doesn't work please just let me know.
NOTE:  On problem systems it can take up to 20 minutes for the log files to complete.  Please be patient and let it run.

If you still have problems with it running, there's an alternate tool here (direct download link):  https://github.com/blueelvis/BSOD-Inspector/releases/download/1.0.5/BSODInspector-1.0.5.exe

NOTE:
Please zip up the (.ZIP) files - do not use .RAR or other compression utilities.
.ZIP is the type file that can be uploaded to the forums.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

Only 1 memory dump present in the uploaded reports.

Only major problem noted in all of the reports is that Fallout 3 is crashsing - a lot!

Try uninstalling the Plantronics software - it's driver dates from 2013

Try running Prime95 longer (maybe an hour or so?) - http://www.carrona.org/prime95.html

Run all 3 major tests:

- Blend

- Small FFT's

- Large FFT's

Make sure that you ran at least 3 passes on MemTest

And run Furmark until the temperature levels out to a steady level (indicating that the card is running stable)

If nothing is found after all this, then try Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

I made it through one hour of every stress test of Prime95 without a single freeze or lockup. I tested it without the Plantronics driver, but It does crash. Memtest also looks good after running the test for hours. I ran driver verifier and it did bluescreen into a loop until I had to restore. Hopefully the log will be in the attached file.

Driver Verifier blames your wifi drivers - bcmwl63a.sys - which dates from 2014

I would:

- turn Driver Verifier off.

- download a fresh copy of the latest, W10 compatible wifi driver from the manufacturer's website

- uninstall the current wifi drivers from your system from Control Panel...Programs and Features

- install the freshly downloaded drivers

- monitor for further BSOD's

There are basically 3 possibilities here (there are more than this, but these are the most common ones):

- bad/corrupted wifi drivers

- bad wifi hardware

- another internet-aware program interfering with the wifi driver
