Would be interested to know what others think.

I bought an Ipod and my AV found a Win32.dll.vbs worm on it recently. I also noticed many folders of music from sites such as limewire and frostwire. Not sure if the virus was there when I got it since I have connected it to my computer many times, with no problem before. This made me think about the possibility of buying infected devices online.

Well if the music was pirated it very well could be infected(which may even be the reason the person is selling a device), buying used electronics on-line is fine you just need to look out for suspicious items, eg the sellers rating, the sellers feedback etc.

and if it's a vbs worm then id factory reset (install original ROM from Apple) the ipod. and scan all devices connected to your network.
