My wife just got a new Dell laptop which is hooked up to a 32" TV via HDMI

I set the Power Options to let the system remain on when the lid was closed

When closing the lid, the Desktop icons (on the TV) become very small.

When you reopen the laptop lid, the Desktop icons (on the TV) return to normal size

Any ideas on how to get the TV to display the same when the laptop lid is opened or closed?

Lot's of suggestions around the web, but most are from a long time ago.

Asking here before I start messing around in the Power Options

The last time I did this (and didn't set a Restore Point), the wife forbade me from messing with her computer ever again.:0)

Hi Usasma,

You can solve this by:

Extending your desktop

Right click on desktop and click "display settings", an awful looking MDI form opens up labelled "Settings".

On the right-hand side is an option called Multiple displays, my guess is that this is currently set to "Duplicate these displays", change it to "Extend these displays" and both screens will now retain their native aspect ratios whether the laptop lid is open or closed.
