Hi, wondered if someone can give me some help please.

i have been having problems getting windows updates as i receive the following message:

"Your current security settings prohibit running Active X controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display properly".

I have tried enabling Active X settings via Internet Options > Security Tab and whatever changes i make, doesn't help....I have even reset all Internet Options back to defaults.

I have run full Grisoft AVG virus scan, Spybot and Lavasoft Ad-Aware scans and removed all malware.

The following is a "Hijack This" log, if this helps.....if anyone could peruse and offer their expert advice...
Many Thanks

Hi bmtaft and welcome to the Bleeping Computer forums. My name is Whisperer and I will be helping you with your problem. Although I am experienced with computers, I am currently a Trainee in Malware removal and, as such, ALL of my fixes will be vetted by malware experts.

If you have not done so already, please do the initial cleanup steps in the following instructions and then post a new log: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting a HijackThis Log

I note that you are running HijackThis from the Desktop, because HijackThis is both for Analysis and Repair it is essential that it runs from within its own folder, this is because it makes backups of the repairs in case there is a need for reversal of any procedure.
  • Please right-click the desktop
  • From the drop-down menu select New then Folder.
  • Name the Folder HJT
  • Drag your copy of HijackThis into the new folder.
I would also like you to produce a list of installed programs to assist me in any cleanup.
  • To do this open your HijackThis
    • Click on Open the Misc Tools section or Config… button, depending on how you are set up.
    • If you used the Config... option then click the Misc Tools tab
    • Select Open Uninstall Manager , a list of your installed programs will be displayed.
    • Select the Save List… button and save the file to your desktop.
  • Please post a copy of this list and an up-to-date HijackThis log in your reply
Back when I have had a look at your old log.

GT

Hi bmtaft,

I have had a look at your oldlog but it is now well out-of-date so please post a new log and the Uninstall list asked for in my last post

Thanks GT
