I have a question concerning icons as displayed on the screen of my laptop. Sometimes when I boot up, the icon I've created for a particular site will display the icon with the proprietary logo of the site. Other times when I boot up, it shows the icon merely as the logo of my default browser. Why does it switch and is there a way to maintain it as the proprietary logo instead of the browser logo? I know it isn't an earthshaking topic and I hope I've got the right forum, but I have always been curious about that.

Yes, but this is not always stable. The best is to download the website icon (usually it is favicon.ico) and then save it somewhere on your computer, then right-click on the desktop icon, select Properties => Change Icon

Ok. Thanks first of all for responding. Could you tell me how I would "download the website icon"? I think I'll be ok after that. Thanks again.

Good!

One more piece of advice - always, if you've changed something on the desktop or in the folders, right-click on the free space there, and refresh or F5. Then you have things finalized.

Thanks for reminding me. I knew that but I make changes so infrequently that I forgot. Thanks again. This is a great forum! I'm new here and I wasn't expecting a solution within an hour. Usually it takes days and a lot of erroneous info. I'm impressed.
