No manual of the motherboard is available. Googling about the motherboard leads nowhere. Again, no info available about motherboard.

Both of those DDR dimms are the same speed and size.  Only difference is the country of origin

What is your end goal?

Are you just trying to find RAM that will work with your computer to upgrade your computer? If so, is it a manufactured computer (i.e. HP, Dell, Asus, etc) or a built computer (i.e. one assembled from parts)? If the former, what is the manufacturer and model of the computer? If the latter, what is the manufacturer and model of the motherboard used?

Or are you more specifically trying to complete a matched set of RAM for dual channel? If so, you are likely best off by buying two new matched RAM DIMMs.

Kingston's KVR667D2N5/1G RAM is DDR2 667 MHz (aka PC2-5300) Non-ECC RAM in 240 pin DIMM form per the link you provided.

Both RAM DIMMs appears to be the same type of RAM as the KVR667D2N5 based upon the description and pictures (i.e. both are called PC2-5300U RAM...aka DDR2 667 MHz RAM). So, both should work in your computer.

At to whether they "match", again, it depends on how you are defining "match".

Should they work in your system? Yes, in single channel mode at a minimum.

Will they be a "matched" set that supports dual channel? Can't say. Some motherboards, I believe, will support dual channel with non-identical RAM modules. It is usually recommended, however, to use identical RAM modules if you want dual channel. I have no clue what your motherboard will support or not support.

I dont need dual channel. All I need is to provide some more ram to the system and speed it up. I cannot simply toss this thing away. SWEET MEMORIES.........

Just how to identify a perfectly matching pair of rams for a single channel operation?

You don't need matching pairs if you are going to run in single-channel mode.

Voltage

All that's left is 'to know how to count banks,' right?

As said, the best way to match RAM for dual channel use is to buy two identical RAM DIMM "models"...i.e. say buy two Kingston's KVR667D2N5/1G RAM DIMMs in your case. To be extra sure, you buy them as a "match" pair (i.e. buy a 2 DIMM set that comes with the two DIMMs rather than purchasing two individual DIMMs that are identical), but this is typically not required unless the motherboard is really picky for some reason (have not personally encountered such a situation, but then I usually still buy matched pairs).

As also previously mentioned, if the motherboard supports it (and some supposedly do), then you can potentially "match" the RAM buy just buying two RAM DIMM from different manufacturers that have the same specs (i.e. both PC2-5300 RAM with same capacity, same clock speed, same latency, same voltage, etc).

I bought KPN424-ELG one and it fits in the slot and computer booted to have 2GB RAM without a hitch. Thanks for all for helping me acheive this tour de force. Though it's still single channel I am not complaining. Maybe its the way the motherboard was supposed to behave. Me cheerful.
