I am having a problem getting SP1 on a recent recovery, I have down loaded and installed the readiness tool KB947831 32 bit.  I rebooted a couple of times prior to try the down load.  When I click check for updates KB976932 SP1 shows as important, I hit the go button but it just sits there at -0- !!  Is there a direct link to grab a copy??  All ideas appreciated.

Phil

Louis I have read that page my problem is making sure I get the right version.  This a Win7 Starter on an older Acer Mini.  The build on this machine is 7600.17795x86fre, on the page it only shows down loads 7601, not sure it the later offering will work.

- Is that tool meant for your system ? (think e.g. 32 bit or 64 bit, Win 7 with or without SP1)

- I assume you will get the dreaded "Windows Update' problem as well. Read this:

http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,4799.0.html

It also contains a link to the SP 1 package.

Appears to be 32-bit.  The x86 download is what you want.

Louis this has been an experience!  I tried the download several times prior to and since your post, was redirected to upgrade or it just stalled.  Also no way was it coming through as a regular update that just sat on -0- for ever.  There are literally hundreds of posts on many forums with try this try that non of which worked.  Being a die hard I tried the link again just now, it skipped by the redirect and upgrade offer.  Following all the self same steps it is being installed as I type!  Hoping there are no glitches will let you know!!!!

Nice work, Phil.

FWIW:  There are a large number of critical updates that you now need to install post-SP1.

Loius I believe it had all available updates prior install SP1, it is running very good with -0- CPU usage at idle.  When all was done I checked see if any updates were available non popped up I think all is good.

Thanx

Phil
