Every hour or so I loose my mouse. The pointer freezes and I have to unplug and reconnect the usb to get it going again. I will occasionally hear the windows tone that a device has disconnected. Sometimes the cursor lags and the scroll will suddenly slow way down, then go back to normal. I wonder if the mouse could be starting to fail.

There is plenty of free HD and memory.

I checked windows device manager and all is well. No system messages either. I tried different usb ports but no change. Should I just get another mouse or could there be PC trouble???

System: HP Z400, windows7, MS comfort mouse 4500.
