I've been tricked into downloading the Chromium browser, and I can't seem to get rid of it.

removal through the windows 10 panel doesn't work.  Neither can I remove it through CCleraner

A search suggest the file(s) are hidden in something called C:users\entra\appdata\roaming\microsoft\........  but I can't find appdata directory.

Is there a way of removing Chromium completely from Windows 10?

You will have to explain how to find the box to type in the command line if necessary, I'm new to windows 10.

Where did you download the Chromium? How were you tricked? Maybe if how the problem started is understood, it will lead to a solution. Also, I saw some errors with Windows Live Mail. Any possible infection via email?

Nevermind, thought it was possible it was just a bad uninstaller, but in retrospect it's more likly the Chromium isn't Chromium, but malware pretending to be. Something like this.

PS. I am novice with malware removal. Please focus on any response from a moderator or malware specialist.

I've run all those now but unfortunately Chromium still pops up on start up.

MBAm did not find any Chromium?

Click on the Start button (or press the Windows key) to open the Start menu, click on the Settings at the top.
2.Click on App & features on the left menu.
3.On the right side, locate Chromium and click it, then click on the Uninstall button.
4.Click on Uninstall to confirm.

Restart Computer>

This doesn't work, bafflingly it seems to open the Yahoo search page, something that was changed when I accidently downloaded Chromium

However, I've been trying to get rid of Chromium through right clicking on the 'most used programs list' then uninstall.  Unfortunately it just gives me the list of programs it thinks I have, and of course Chromium is absent from this list.

Would it not be easier to find a reset point a week earlier?

Try that, if no joy we'll move and get a deeper look in there.

OK I can't seem to restore files in windows 10 like I used to be able to in windows 7

it claims the last backup on the 20/06/2016 on a external hardrive,

Indeed there is something called Catalog1.edb made on that date buried several directories down.

How do I do this?

I've found 'Restore from a previous back up' option but that just sends me to a file history listing for August 2nd!  No way of choosing anything on the external hard drive:

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.
Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.
The current wait time is 1 - 3 days and ALL logs are answered.
If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
