I've used several different defragging programs, including windows defrag tool, but my pc keeps crashing in the middle of it.

Here is a copy of the crash log event:

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
 and APPID
to the user DESKTOP-NDMLJUJ\Josh SID (S-1-5-21-1585093598-1883129452-1344240021-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_1.6.1.52_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-1861897761-1695161497-2927542615-642690995-327840285-2659745135-2630312742). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
My only attempt to fix this error was to edit the specific CLSID and APPID registries and change ownership and full control over to me. It still occurs, but I'm able to get further through defragging.
Reason for defragging: 25% frag rate and extremely slow HDD performance ( 3-15mbs read/write, though i don't know that there related).
  • os drive: samsung SSD
  • drive 1: toshiba hdwd110 7200rpm 1tb (games and some programs) [This is problem drive in description, recently purchased brand new]
  • drive 2: Seagate Barracuda Greet 5900rpm 2tb st 2000dl003

Low priority on this issue, but any help is appreciated.

What programs do the CLSID and APPID belong to?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling that/those program(s)?

Run these free diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Start with the hard drive tests and test ALL of the hard drives.

Have you enabled TRIM on the SSD? (I'm just guessing things here :0)

If you can make the system crash easily, do it 3 times and then let's try looking at these 2 sets of reports:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be experiencing BSOD's) so that we can provide a complete analysis: (from the pinned topic at the top of the forum)   http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/
FYI - I don't often use the Perfmon report, so if it doesn't work please just let me know.

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
