Hi.

I saw a video that advised disabeling a few things in windows to make it more secure but it was on an older version of windows so I don't know how relevant it is to windows 10 which I use.

First is it ok to disable "LM host lookup" and "NetBIOS over tcp/ip"?

Second is it ok to uncheck "enable distributed com"?

I created a restore point first but so far since I did it everything has been running fine.

Also I disabled the service "remote access connection manager", I don't use one but will this stop me being able to use a VPN?

Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone know a site that I could ask this question that might be able to help?

Heres a site that maintains a list of Windows service settings for optimizing the OS, not necessarily improving security but that could be a side benefit for a few of them.

Just so you know, Black Viper’s Service Configurations has been around for years and is the go to guide for experts and power users alike. Just be careful to read everything carefully including his notes before making any changes.
