Hi,

I would like to buy a new computer with at least 225 cores which is BIOS unlocked and can be overclocked.

225+ cores

A few other requirements would be about 3 TB of SSD and RAM.

Around 1GB cache memory

Fast bust speed

Fast disk speed/size

Decent graphics card

Liquid helium cooling (if possible)

Windows Server OS

My question is if it is at all possible to make this portable and if not then what is the cheapest possible way of doing this?

Thank you.

All of those requirements are possible, but I recommend changing liquid helium to liquid nitrogen. Much easier to handle and keep cold, also safer.

Could I make this portable for flights and can you give me an estimated price?

I'd say you would want at least a 747 jet as a case for this thing. It's a two in one as well, you get your portability so you can take it anywhere, and you get a private plane!

Somewhere along $1,000,000,000 should get you started. You will need at least 400 million for the case (jet) and the rest should take care of the parts for the computer. Also you might want to factor in operating cost per year.... not sure exactly but it will probably run into the hundreds of millions every year.

225 cores? Please, you can't even reply to your mother-in-law's chain emails with that. You need the new AMD 226 core.

Oh yeah, I heard about that one. It has that awesome new feature "quadrothreading"? Kind of like Intel's hyperthreading, but instead of virtually doubling the cores, this one quadruples the cores. It isn't virtual either... its like a transformer making itself new cores out of nowhere. Pretty cool stuff. So really its 904 cores.

You're gonna need 4 of these: https://jet.com/product/detail/dd296256346244ed834e87e0790016d7?jcmp=pla:ggl:gen_electronics_a1:electronics_accessories_computer_components_computer_processors_a1_other:na:PLA_348772140_24231302700_pla-156820389420:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&ds_c=gen_electronics_a1&ds_cid=&ds_ag=electronics_accessories_computer_components_computer_processors_a1_other&product_id=dd296256346244ed834e87e0790016d7&product_partition_id=156820389420&gclid=CPznsIzah84CFYskhgodYkgDYQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
Although with that much power, you may be checked out by the FBI.

Are there any companies which could custom build this?

Could this seriously be portable without having to buy a jet (lol) ?

Also what's wrong with having that much power? the FBI doesn't need to check?

The link you posted only allows me to buy 2 61 core xeon phis and I need 4.

No problem. Just go to www.intel.com and search for "61 core xeon phis core i7 core" and download your core. While you're there, you might want to pickup 8 GB of RAMs.

In all seriousness, sure this could be built. I doubt one person could buy/build this though... ask Nick said, anything can be done if you have the money.

Captain_Chicken posted a good link to the Intel boards that sport 61 cores a piece. 3K times 4 would put you at 12K just for that. I doubt any off the shelf motherboard will support something like that either so you would have to get intel to custom build you one probably. That will run you in the thousands no doubt as well. Once you had everything you would then need a spot just to house the thing, it will also require a ton of electricity per month just to run.

You might have better luck asking IBM to borrow Watson for a little bit.

If you ever build it, let me know. I would love to come see it!
