A Nickelodeon show called "The Loud House" has one of the minor characters have gay, interracial parents. Naturally, the anti-gay group "One Million Moms" went nuts. They claim that just because something is legal, doesn't make it morally right. So I ask, should we expose our kids to LGBTQ content? I believe we should since it allows children to see it has something normal and tolerable, rather than something weird that should be ridiculed.

After many years of listening to the pros and cons.....please allow some mystery to remain.....instead of inflicting out warped views and beliefs on our kids......leave something for them to discover themselves.

We must all have enormous guilt complexes to think we have to "educate" kids/young adults/children about everything.  Who are we trying to "save"..?....them..or us?

(the lyrics are a tad 'off context'....but you get my drift...)

Spoiler

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they they all came from
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go
When the whole thing's done
But no one knows for certain
And so it's all the same to me
I think I'll just let the mystery be
Some say once you're gone you're gone forever
And some say you're gonna come back
Some say you rest in the arms of the Saviour
If in sinful ways you lack
Some say that they're comin' back in a garden
Bunch of carrots and little sweet peas
I think I'll just let the mystery be
Everybody's wonderin' what and where they they all came from
Everybody's worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go
When the whole thing's done
But no one knows for certain
And so it's all the same to me
I think I'll just let the mystery be

I will agree with you to some extent, but it's also worth noting that there is a lot of harmful misinformation on the topic. Parents need to make sure their kids aren't taught harmful stereotypes and make sure they understand what that gay/lesbian people are just like the rest of us, but a little different. Parents also need to dispel the fear of the unknown that kids are prone to having, lest something damaging happen to them or someone else.

I say yes, early exposure does nothing except open minds.

Its like showing kids horror movies and action films as long as parents are responsible I see no harm.

Let me ask you a question.

Do you consider Gay. Lesbian and Trans gender people to be normal human beings?

I do.

Therefore I see nothing wrong with it, and if your child asks " Daddy why are those to men holding hands and kissing? " You tell them , " because they love each other and there is nothing wrong with it " and as a result our kids might grow up more tolerant and understanding.

If you don't want your kids to see it. CHANGE THE CHANNEL! USE THE FORCE!! It's called a remote control! Be the adult and control the content your child sees. Do not let the government, or the networks be the pseudo parent and decision maker. THINK independently. But please do not dictate to me what I will allow my child to see or not see. Our values may differ, but let me choose. As you are free to choose what your child sees. Don't force your morals on me in my home and what I watch.

Sadly, teaching alternate life styles in the school system is taking time away from teaching. Not to say its not important, just that todays kids aren't being taught anymore.

I don't think that there is any need for parents to do it. It is constantly shoved down our throats by the media.

I do wonder if it really affects children, what they see. I remember when I first got a computer, many years ago, I used to look at the porn channels a lot, for about two or three days. It, then to me, became rather boring and repetitive. From what I hear, quite young children are looking at porn, and I do wonder if they might find it boring as I did. Perhaps making porn easily available, might relegate it to just normal human activity, and the same might apply to homosexuality.

Not a parent.  Though if subject is on Nickelodeon, then I don't see why people are raising such a ruckus.

Very young children are already being raised in gay and lesbian homes.

Believe if they are taught young, (I know many will say they can't understand), it should teach them tolerance/acceptance.

Very young children need to learn how to live and enjoy life. Not be burdened with adult opinions and biases at young ages. Teach children to read, write and understand how to work as a team or individual. Its not the job of schools, tv or govt to influence or direct our youths sexual orientation. Let the parents be the judge and teacher of their offspring.

I have 2 kids and there minds are like litmus paper they take in everything even if you think they missed it, they  didn't I am also a believer in the fact that people are very much shaped by what they see and do everyday.Apples marketing campaign is a good example placing apple pcs in many films ect.

I don't like the way it is shoved down kids necks but then I don't like the way fashion, adverts, sex and violence are also.

Most people wouldn't say they have been shaped by whats around them but I assure you you have been shaped to think the way you do

buy the things you do watch the things you do ect ect to a point.

Television is a very powerful tool or adverts would not exist. Darren Brown did a great example of how powerful adverts are placing adverts on bill boards on the route his target would take the target took them in and didn't even know. So until my kids have a basic understanding of life at around about 10 years I will try not to expose them to it all.  Kids grow up to fast these days they don't even get to be kids I see many parents who use there kids as a stastus symbol and on the other hand many who have nothing and no morals, where it will all lead no one can tell.

What you do in your own home is up to you unless it harms another is my opinion. To me life is like domino's all stood up in lines then one pushed..... one thing can and will in some way effect the other.

The world is full of Gay and Lesbian content.  My sister is a lesbian.

So one's children will be shown such "content" eventually.  Hopefully it won't be shown to them by a Catholic Priest.

Thank you.  Please tip your waitress.  I'll be here all week.  Or at least until they ban me.
