When the machine restarts, this is a message I get - "Video TDR failure..."

"Display driver stopped".

I got this computer a few years ago with Windows Vista on it. I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro, and then Microsoft was 'nice' enough to install Windows 10 Pro without me even asking for it...Isn't that special!

Then a message came up - Intel display driver for Windows Vista has stopped. Windows 10 is on here now.

I ended up running the Intel Driver Update Utility; it came up with a "generic" driver update. When I clicked Install, it appeared to be installing, and then "Failure". Unknown error.

What do I need to do here?

In most cases, the Video TDR failure is a software issue.

But there are some instances where it's caused by a hardware problem

If this is a laptop, it may be that the Intel drivers aren't properly signed for your system.

If it's an All In One, it may be similar to a laptop in that respect.

And, if it's a desktop, it may not need special drivers.

The point here is that you'll need to see if the manufacturer of the system provides drivers for the video card.

Install them to see if that helps.

Also please follow these troubleshooting suggestions:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/bsod-kernel-dump-analysis-debugging-information/35-video-tdr-timeout-0x116-0x117.html#post29532
Also, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

If none of this works, then we have to wonder if the system is compatible w/W10.

The only "true" test of this is to reinstall Vista and see if the problem is resolved or not.

Good luck!
