Hey ya'll,
I went to Microsoft and checked my Update history...
Although there are 100+ that succeeded, I noticed that 5 were canceled...I have not canceled any updates that I am aware of.

The following show as Canceled..

Definition Update 1.14.1647.70 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597)
Definition Update 1.14.1646.10 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2006 (KB890830)
Definition Update 1.14.1645.5 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597)
Definition Update 1.14.1521.63 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597)

Each of these has updates that succeeded within 1 or 2 days

e.g.
Definition Update 1.14.1647.70 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597) Canceled

Definition Update 1.14.1648.4 for BETA Windows Defender (KB915597) Succeeded

Why would these be canceled? :flowers: Should I go back and install them, or will the new updates take care of this?
I'm concerned that these were canceled in the first place.

Have you used and then uninstalled Windows Defender Beta? I removed WDBeta a short time ago because of one or two unfavourable reviews. Tuesday's batch of Window's updates had a WDBeta update. It failed to download and install and I put that down to the fact that I had removed WDBeta. It would seem logical that if a programme isn't there, an update will not be needed.

Best wishes. whatapalaver

Last one that shows canceled was Friday, 11th Aug.

No, I have not uninstalled Defender, never had a problem with it that I know of.

The Windows Defender Definition Updates were most likely cancelled because they had ready been superseded by another update when they were identified for downloading and therefore were cancelled.

The only update that you should be concerned with is:
  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2006 (KB890830)
Check your update log to see what happened to that update:
  • C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log

'Update History' at Microsoft Update shows green for this one......
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2006 (KB890830)

Checked WindowsUpdate.log, it's rather confusing to me.
If I read it right, it downloaded, but KB890830 doesn't come up in Search.
