First I had been using a samsung np270e5j and would prefer something comparable.
Laptop or Desktop?
My budget for the new computer is:
500-600 lil bit flexible
What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?
Lots of fb games and skilled gaming (for $$)
What software do you intend on using on the computer?
Mainly just 2 browsers, gmail
Do you play games? If so, what type of games?
Fb games ie bingo
Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?
Two browsers usually running at same time many tabs and apps running
Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?
Will you be overclocking?
Don't know what this is
Location for online shopping/shipment/prices?
Oregon, USA
How many monitors are you planning to use?
Do you need peripherals? OS?
Any particular reason why you are upgrading?
Less than 2 yr old laptop hard drive failing

Personally, I would forget the laptop and concentrate on getting the best desktop for your budget if you have the room. Desktops are much easier to work on. You may get a better answer in the System Building Forum on which desktop to purchase or If you are technically inclined you can get a good desktop by building your own.

I have an ASUS similar to this one but this one has an integrated graphics card so you would not be playing high end games on it. It would be fine for fb games and it has a decent processor. If you can wait you may be able to get it cheaper when on sale.

Edit: I forgot to mention you would also need to purchase a monitor if you decide to go with a desktop.
