Hello everyone, I am having a problem with an HP desktop that was being used by my kids until I got them tablets. It is running extremely slow. So i tried to run a scan with MBAM. Avast AVG, viper rescue, and eset. Viper rescue ran and discovered 5 problems, but it won't clean them and the rest won't even open. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Also to help u guys with helping me. I have tried all of these things I mention in safe mode as well.

Thanks

Try booting into safe mode and running the uninstallers for Avast, AVG, Viper Rescue. Let me know how that goes.

Could the problem be lack of enough free space on the hdd to perform the uninstalls?

Boot into safe mode with Networking. Attempt to download and install Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware

If that works try to use it to uninstall the programs I mentioned earlier.

If that doesn't work then let me know what if any messages/ errors, etc. are given.

Just to be sure....did all of those security programs actually install or did they fail to install?

You would probably find it less work to reinstall Windows 7. But if you would rather have someone else take a look you have that option.

Just follow the instructions below.

Please follow the instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide starting at Step 6.

  • If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next.
  • In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running FRST which will create two logs.

When you have done that, post your logs in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.

Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log(s) along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. If you cannot produce any of the required logs...start the new topic anyway. Explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them. A member of the Malware Removal Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer.

After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can close this one.

DO NOT bump your new topic. Wait for a response from one of the Team Members.

I did as you asked and no one has offered any help. Here is the link to the post. I put in there that I was unable to run the FRST program too.

Thanks for posting the link. Sometimes that Forum gets backed up. Best I can advise is to be patient.
