Hello! we're brand new to bleeping computer, and hoping someone can help us!  This Asus Emachine has only 2 GB of Ram.  But lots of unused space on hard drive.  We like to create & store documents, but to retrieve one (in WP10) always takes about 70 sec.  Is there any hope a very fast usb drive w/readyboost would speed up doc retrieval?  A couple of good tech people have looked at it and said there's nothing wrong, it just can't go any faster, but we still have high hopes!  We like the small handy size...H&C

Microsoft will tell you that 2GB of RAM will work with Windows 7, it will, but not as fast as you would like.  I would suggest adding more RAM, this is the quickest way to make this computer run faster.

I suspect that your motherboard is capable of running the RAM in dual channel which makes the throughput speed almost twice as fast.  So if you are interested in adding more RAM we need to know what you have installed.  Speccy Snapshot will produce this information.

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

okay, we're going to check again later.  Just hoping someone can advise if readyboost with a fast usb jump drive (how fast??) would make a diff?

or if not, can we increase the Ram  some other way, given the specs?  Thanks folks, we're ignorant seniors!
