I am logged in as the administrator on my machine. But I cannot change the "Install updates automatically" setting. It seems to update every day and when it does it interrupts my weather station streaming. Which is the only thing the computer is used for.

I just want to update when I want to update.

Still searching for the "Read My Mind and Do It" button.

In some respects you are fortunate that you are getting updates. A considerable number of Vista and Win 7 users are having real trouble getting any !

Have you been into 'Start - Control panel - Windows updates' and tried the command at the top left of the updates screen 'Change settings' ? This normally works without any problems at all. You need to select the option 'Check for updates but let me choose . . .'.

If you have tried this or if you try it and it doesn't work for you, post back.

I am going to be away on holiday until the 13th May. While I expect to have internet access my time on-line may well be limited and PMs may not be replied to as quickly as normal.
