Suddenly, all programs show only a very basic list of items instead of my extensive list. Oddly my main recent programs list is fine, and the icons work.

In all programs I only have an Internet Explorer icon and folders.

The folders are:

Accessories (with very minor amount in it)

Games (empty)

MagicISO (empty)

Maintenance

Microsoft Office (correct icons, only shows 2010 not 2003, shows up in orange as if new)

Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories (newly reinstalled)

Pen Tablet (empty)

QEMU (with correct icons)

Startup (empty)

Steam (various games)

Windows Live (empty)

Microsoft Office 2010 thought is was not activated and tried to activate and failed. I retried and it worked (made me enter my product key)

Microsoft Office 2003 gave me the first time activation wizard which worked fine

SCP Driver (first time install) does not work (the process shows in Task Manager for a couple of seconds then disappears, but I think I had trouble with it before)

Malwarebytes also does this

NAT no longer works in VMware (must use bridged)

I've noticed CCleaner take far longer to analyse files for cleaning

I don't recall messing with anything. The only thing I can think of is the dual-boot, and that I have accessed the Win7 partition using it. Not that that should make a difference. I am running an Avast antivirus scan now

Add or remove programs reports 74 programs installed.

MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard

AMD FX-8350

16 GB RAM OC (motherboard side only) 2133 MHz

EVGA GeForce GTX 950

480 GB SSD (347 GB Win7 partition, 54 GB Win10 partition)

1 TB HDD

Windows 7 Professional SP1

I've already checked that (should have mentioned) They aren't hidden, when I go to the Start Menu in Explorer it still has the links missing. (I have hidden files showing too by the way)

It's as if I'm trying to run programs that were installed using a different Windows installation. As if they haven't even been installed, only the files copied. But they all worked before, oddly.

And Avast found nothing.

If you can remember the name of one of these files type it in the search box and press Enter.  If it opens you should be able to see where it is.

I tried one (Audacity) and the shortcut .lnk is not found in both Windows Search and Search Everything.
