Using Windows XP on privately-built machine. I have two email accounts on the system, one is Gmail and the is is Yahoo. Everything has been fine for the last four years but now I cannot access my email after I turn on my computer. I can open every other internet site the same as usual but email will not open until the computer has been on for about five hours. Then it runs fine. Should I leave the computer on and never turn it off now? I am getting a Windows 10 system soon but would like to keep this computer for my wife's use. Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Both Gmail and Yahoo are web-based email sites.

If you can access other Internet sites with ease and only have problems with those two sites...I'd have to think of possibly corrupt cookies.

Hello, RobtB:

What web browser are you using?  For Windows XP, I recommend using Mozilla FireFox.  (IE is very out of date and Google Chrome has discontinued any updates for XP).  As hamluis has mentioned cookies, have you tried clearing your cookies and cache?

If you need more information on how to do this, you can find a good guide here: https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahic

Let us know if this resolves your problem and have a great day!
