Will an Intel i5 4690k with a GTX 750 be good for running newer games?

Not very good. At least RX 480 custom for GPU and LGA1151 stuff for CPU.

It will work, but not well with newer games.  An RX 480 would be a better choice, however, due to markups and stock shortages, they can be difficult to find at MSRP.  If you wait a little while, more stock should be available, otherwise, a GTX 970 would do if you need a card right now.
