What was the update?

What is happening that you think that you should use a image recovery?

What is the make and model of this computer?

If this is a OEM computer you should have a system recovery partition which you could use to reinstall the operating system.  But I would suggest doing a Refresh.  If you decide to go this route you need to be aware that this will remove any third party programs.
