How did you determine that you have power going to the motherboard?

Are you seeing any of the LEDs lit up, power, hdd activity?

Have you tried using a voltmeter to see if the output of the power adapter is as advertised?

How old is this computer?

Have you replaced either the power adapter or battery?

What is the make and complete model number of the laptop? (It really is vital information!)
