Let's see some data on this system, please.

1.  Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

2.  Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The above suggestions will no doubt make make for a more informed intelligent feedback for you.  However the short quick answer is to invest $40 or more in an SSD and put Windows on it.  SSDs are a whole lot faster than hard drives.

 Good luck.

Make regular full system backups or you'll be sorry sooner or later.

One of the quickest ways to speed up your computer is to add more RAM.  You have one 4GB module running in single channel.  If you add another matched module (you will need to use matched modules) you would have 8GB of RAM and it will run in dual channel which effectively doubles the through put speed which almost doubles the speed of the RAM. You can find a matched module at Amazon for $18.99.

Open the Task Manager and make a screenshot of the Processes and post it in your topic.

How to make a screenshot

1. Download and run A Thousand Words .

2. Follow the wizard to capture a screenshot.

3. Use the built-in editor to resize, edit, or re-capture your screen shot.

4. Your screen shot will be saved to your desktop when you finish the wizard.

You can post the screenshot in your next post as an attachment.

Just below the area where you write text in a post there is the Post button, to the right of this is More Reply Options

Post2_zpsf05c0430.png

When you click on More Relpy Options  you will see Attach Files and Browse, click on Browse, this will open Pictures on your computer, click on the image you want to post, then click on Attach This File, then Add Reply.

Your installation of Windows 7 is only seven months old, so I would be inclined to believe there isn't a great deal of optimizing to be done.  But you can do the optimization suggested by Microsoft.

- Install PcWinTech's Cleanmem. It reduces memory usage every 15 minutes and let it collapse the file cache as well.

- If know where to find all your personal files then disable the "Search Indexer" Service.

- Isn't there a way to put your memory in dual mode ?  (e.g by changing a setting in the BIOS ??)
