Hello I've been having these blue screen issues since I got the computer and the thing is, it's random but also not random. My computer may go weeks without crashing then suddenly (most likely triggered by running a certain program or game) I crash and then it happens like 10 times in 1 hours or until I get fed up. Another thing, is, I used to play a couple games here and there and this one game I played (not very resource intensive btw, usually fairly outdated older games) would never have any issues, then upon triggering the wave of crashes somehow, my computer would start crashing periodically while playing this game. But other times I could play the game for a couple hours even without a single problem.

This made the issue really hard to diagnose but I do have this info which may or may not help...

- The crash may be related to memory as a lot of the error codes are like X00000000 (have a lot of 0s in them) and a buddy of mine said that usually means memory error. However I have installed new memory chips and still crashes

- One of the codes usually looks something like XFFFF80A08 or something like that though...

- There are a couple ways I can guarantee a crash which includes: trying to sync music to my phone, trying to burn a cd, trying to install certain programs (bigger programs)

- The first crash I ever had followed the genuine windows warning and messages, I've used various remedies for it which usually work for a little while, of course until my computer crashes again, not sure if it's related and I'm sure if I could rid myself of the crashes I could fix it and keep it fixed.

I'm sure the first step would be to somehow submit an crash log or whatever to you but I'm not sure how to do that. These blue screens are driving me crazy and totally ruining my computing experience

hey I just realized there's instructions on posting blue screen errors, I'm so sorry I should have read that first. I'll read that and follow up with whatever information I should have brought to this post

Unfortunately it appears that the system has pirated software.
Please get a legitimate copy installed and we'll be glad to help.

Here's suggestions on how to ensure that your version is legitimate:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuine

Please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

As a courtesy, I will offer an analysis of your issues using the reports you provided.
I will not answer any questions about the analysis until the system is made legitimate.
If you do make it legitimate, please submit a new set of reports for us to check.

Just FYI, sometimes the owner won't know about this.  So here's 2 scenarios that might ring a bell:
- if they had a "friend" help with the computer - and the "friend" installed a pirated copy.
- or they used a copy that they had from another OEM computer.  The OEM license is tied to the hardware that it came from - so you can't just use it on another system (that means that it's pirated).

And here's the analysis:

No Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

C: drive only has about 4½% free space.  Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance.  Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty).  Low free space can cause BSOD's - but the actual amount depends on the files being used by the system.

This device is missing drivers in Device Manager:

bsdriver    ROOT\LEGACY_BSDRIVER\0000    This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

Please find it in Device Manager, right click on it and select "Uninstall"

This appears to be a leftover from removing Shopping type adware.

The errors are all STOP 0x124's - more info here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x00000124

These are most often hardware issues, but can be caused by other things (such as compatibility, low-level drivers, malware, or pirated software)

This includes the overfull hard drive and the missing Windows Updates.

Analysis:

Thanks for the info. I was assured it was legit software and had seen online that the error could be caused by a change of hardware.

Nonetheless, are you saying that if it IS a pirated OS then that's what could be causing the BSOD? Which would imply that purchasing Windows7 again could fix the problem? How likely do you think that is? In that case the errors have got to be caused by the bad OS because I've checked the hardware, memory sticks, even installed new ones, the computer works fine normally.

As you have asked for a response even though I said I won't respond - I am unsubscribing from this topic (so I won't be bothered by any further attempts to ask questions).

In case you do become legal after that, then you'll have to send me a Private Message to get me to look at your topic.
Should you use the Private Message to contact me again, without having become legal, I will report that to the Forum Staff - and I will block you from contacting me.
