Without describing the screens there is no way to help you.

We need as much detail as possible.

My home screen is the one with the background picture; it can be any picture of your choosing. It is the screen just before the one that you enter the password. I would like to go directly to that screen when I turn on my desktop. Right now I have to wait through two earlier screens; one with the HP logo, then the Intel boot screen (which takes 15 seconds).... before reaching my home screen. I know there is a way to avoid the first two screens. I just don't know how to do it. Can anyone out there help me!

Some manufacturer of motherboard include setting to turn off manufacturer Logo also there will be settings for Quick Boot which reduce boot time as BIOS will perform quick SMART check these settings can be found within BIOS setup utility.

I looked into the BIOS setup utility. I was confused as to what to do next so, I closed it. Really would appreciate it if someone could guide me as to what specific steps to take. :scratchhead:

There are a number of different types of BIOS versions that your motherboard could have. To determine where the setting is in your computer's BIOS, check the motherboard user manual. In most cases, it should be mentioned there.

I do not have the motherboard user manual. Secondly, how do I get to the startup? Is that the same as going to msconfig? :scratchhead:

You can google search the motherboard user manual or you can download user manual from your motherboard manufacturer website. Microsoft Configuration utility (Msconfig.exe) cannot disable  manufacturer Logo.
