For some reason when I try to use the start menu search on Windows 10 it only searches through applications and the control panel. The only way for me to search through 'my stuff' as the menu puts it, is to manually click 'search my stuff' once I've typed. Once I do that, it works fine however it is quite time consuming and inconvenient to do so. This has never happened on all of the PCs I've installed Windows 10 on thus far. Could the problem lie in the fact that I have my personal user files on a separate hard drive than the system files? All of the locations are indexed as well by the way.

Thanks for the help

Open Control Panel --> Indexing Options and click Modify button and select all places where your personal files are stored and click Advanced button click Rebuild button this should resolve the search issue.
