Hi Guys - Anybody know of a free youtube downloader that is virus free? I found out about Bleeping Computer after Malwarebytes helped me clean out a virus. I'm trying to be a lot more careful in terms of what I download now. Thanks for any help.

I use a couple of Firefox addons. Video Download Helper, Easy Media Download, Video Downloader all work on Youtube.

Personally, Video Grabber is a better choice. On the one hand, it's completely free and  adless. On the other hand, you can use it to download online videos on both Windows and Mac PC. It supports YouTube, Dailymotion, Vevo and more mainstream video sites. In addition, it also consists of practical video converter,  screen recorder and library.  :love4u:

I use Clip Grab. It is so nice and all they ask for is a little donation.

Cotna roe and Rocky,

Thanks for the feedback. Cotna mentioned Video Grabber. Is that Video Grabby? I tried the Video Grabby website and found that you don't need to download anything. It can just be used right from the opening page of that website. It is very simple. No bells and whistles but downloads YouTube, Vimeo and others and YouTube music too. Just some information for others. No promotion. I'll have a look at Clip Grab too.

Thanks guys, Bleeping Computer is a great site!!

Like most folk I imagine, I have tried several programs.

Presently I use:

   Freemake Video Downloader ( preferred)

   Chris' free Videotube Downloader

Both are free, & they work well with YouTube & many other sites, but not always successful with some videos, for reasons not fully understood by me.

Certainly worth a try, some limitations in the free version but not  sufficiently limited to be a problem IMHO.

BTW I always download with the semblance of security against malware offered by "Unchecky".

This is a simple program that I use with confidence & it has prevented me accidentally "allowing" an unwanted pup.

Still be careful. As a retro gamer, I was getting a ROM from an SNES game using a site's downloader (because for some reason there was no direct option) and got swamped with PUPs before I even had the choice to give it permission to install them.

I use freemake video downloader.

It's a free software.

Just copy youtube url , then paste and download.

You can download up to 4080p quality. The speed is good. No advertisement.

I think this is the best.

If you read that link then you will know that it does not say anything similar to what you said.

But.... there are copyright laws. You can download all the videos that you want as long as you do not break copyright laws.
