I'm running Driver Verifier, based on other posts, due to BSOD with Bad Pool Header error. BSOD has only happened a couple of times, although on several occasions my mouse and keyboard will stop responding and I have to reboot. This made me think that the BSOD might be driver related.

Since I started Driver Verifier, programs are running very slow and the fans in the PC seem to be running at top speed. It's the fans running so fast and loud that have me worried. I attempted to turn driver verifier off to see if that made any difference. But I got an error message that said "current operation requires admin privilege."  I am the only administrator on this PC.

What is the best thing for me to do now?

Approximately 90% of BSOD's are due to 3rd party drivers

10% or less are due to hardware problems

Less than 1% are due to Windows drivers (on a fully updated system)

Driver Verifier is supposed to cause BSOD's - that's it's purpose.

It loads extra routines for the drivers - so it's supposed to slow the system down.

Open up verifier.exe from the RUN command

Select "Delete existing settings", then click on the "Finish" button.
Then reboot the system so that the changes can take effect.

It is not recommended to just run Driver Verifier without having diagnosed previous BSOD's.

And, depending on the settings that you've used, the results can be interpreted in different ways.

Also, Driver Verifier can expose weakness' in drivers that you won't see in normal mode - so you'll be attempting to diagnose problems that don't even exist.

So, my question is..."What is wrong with your system that you decided to run Driver Verifier?"

If it was BSOD's, Please run this report collecting tool so that we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location. (By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop)
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.

If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

The link to omgdebugging would not work. I have attached the files from the BSOD instructions.

Thank you

Thanks for letting me know!  I just found out that the website/blog went off-line (and won't be coming back).

I've reverted to the Sysnative link.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version A04) dates from 2010.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.
Many, many Windows Update failures in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.

Driver Verifier blames ezplay.sys - a driver for your VSO software.

Please uninstall it to see if that stopse the BSOD's.

If it does, then try downloading a fresh copy of the latest, W10 compatible version and install it.  Then see if it BSOD's or not.

The BIOS A04 was updated July 3, 2014. I was hesitant to install it because the Dell support site doesn't say that it's for Windows 10. The original system for this PC was Windows 7. Should I go ahead and update with the new version?

Yes, go ahead and do it.

Ideally, you should have updated it before upgrading to W10 - but that's already done.

Run the installer in compatibility mode for W7.

OK - the BIOS was updated successfully. Checked for Windows updates - message said my computer was up to date. According to VSO ezplay.sys is only used occasionally by BlindWrite. They suggested I uninstall BlindWrite, which I did. Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks

Now we wait....

Let us know if the BSOD's return

If you go a week without one - it might have been fixed

If you go 2 weeks without one - it's probably been fixed.

Good luck!
