I'm upgrading an old XP Dell Latitude D620 from 2GB of ram to 3GB.

It can take 4GB but on my 32 bit system it can only see 3.3 GB so I'm just going for the cheap upgrade.

Both slots are now filled with 333 speed ram. The new ram is 667 (only replacement I could find).

The DIMM A is under the keyboard, DIMM B is under a simple to open door on the back of the machine.

Does it matter where I add the new ram? (2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667Mhz)

Thanks

Both existing 1GB sticks are DDR2 DRAM 333 MHz. (per Speccy) I  haven't looked at them yet.

The new 2GB ram is 667. (2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667Mhz) (Verified by Crucial.com as a replacement)

I have two used, working 1GB sticks laying around. Would any of these match up better with the new ram? They were taken from another D620 I use.

1. hynix    1 GB 2Rx8 PC2 - 5300S - 555 - 12

2. elpida  1 GB 2Rx16 PC2-6400S- 666

Getting under the keyboard isn't all that difficult to do....if it means a faster or more stable system. I rarely use this computer (it's XP works with my only scanner) but I found the RAM at a good price.
