So, a few days ago my c drive got corrupted apparently, then it asked to repair a few times. The repairing happened very slowly, after which I noticed my disk usage kept spiking to 100%.

In order to fix it, I Googled a few solutions. This is what I've done to try to solve this problem:

1. Closed superfetch, windows search and disabled it.
2. Ran chkdsk.exe several times to try to fix my c drive. According to my laptop the drive's fine.
3. Tried sfc /scannow, after 15 or so hours it got stuck at 100%
4. Made a virtual memory for my c drive, double that of my RAM

My OS is Windows 8.1.

The main problem is that the hard disk usage is fine for a few minutes after I start the laptop, but then it gets stuck at 100% and things stop responding.

What do I do? Thanks for your help in advance.

One option here would be to do a Refresh.  This is very much like do a installation of Windows 8.1.  There is one downside to this, it will remove any third party applications you have installed.

Windows 8.1 Refresh

1. Open the Settings charm, tap/click on Change PC Settings.

2. Tap/click on Update and recovery, then tap/click on Recovery.

3. Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap/click on Get started.

Follow the instructions as they appear.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Have you check the Task Manager to see which process utilizing hard disk drive more then others and constantly.

See if issue resolves within Safe Made if it does then one of startup programs or third party service causing the issue you need to perform clean boot to find out which startup program or service causing the issue.

Thanks guys. And I am interested, yes...

I tried to do a recovery, but apparently it couldn't, because "some files are missing". I'm not sure if my drive E, called HP Tools should be empty or not, but there is little data there.

Open the Command Prompt as a administrator and type Dism  /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to scan the Windows for component store corruption, and
then perform repair operations automatically. Follow my instructions at my tutorial the url address link below.

Refresh won't work, I tried it.

It says "Insert Media, some files are missing. Your windows installation or recovery media will provide these files."

I try to do it through another method, and it says "Insert your windows installation or recovery media to continue."

There are no restore points except the one yesterday, and the problem did exist then. So I don't think a restore will fix anything.

Then just to check things out, I started a windows startup repair. After a few seconds of "Diagnosing your PC", I got "Attempting repairs" for several minutes, then I get "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC"
Mind you, my pc starts up just fine

I've checked the task manager yup, mostly it's system, but that's just few mb/s(not sure what the unit here is). There isn't a spike in the speed, just the disk usage after half an hour or so. At this point my laptop barely responds.
I installed a few games here and there, and the processes reached approx 20 units of speed.

I'm sorry, no reason to ignore you really, calm down.

I can access the Internet only through my phone, because my wifi isn't working.

It's late and I shall do what you said in a bit.

I didn't ask for your help in particular and I have other things going on.

Right...now if you're done with your little emotional outburst. I know you're trying to help, but please don't, if you're going to with that attitude.

I'm running what you told me to do, and it's at 20%.
