around 750gb missing space

hi i have between 850gb to 1tb hard drive space missing on drive 'c' which is 2tb hard drive.

Drive has been fine for 2 years.

have ran disk clean up and deleted temp folder

hope someone can help

thanks

 

pc is windows 8 lenovo idea centre

Download and run WinDirStat. This will give you an idea of what and how much space it uses on the hard drive.

have ran windirstat a few times , but it always crashes

There are several temp folders through-out the hard-drive:

AppData Local Temp                                           

ProgramData Temp                                            

Windows Prefetch                                             

Windows Recent                                               

Wndows Temp

The above can be cleaned out periodically.

And, use something like ccleaner to periodically clean out the cache files from all your browsers.

Set the utility to only clean cache files, no other files!  Lest you lose where you were.

My ccleaner does it once a day, so far, no problems, just have to wait for my tabs to reCache.
