My wife's computer Wind.7 and Canon IP4820 will print in place of an apostrophe, a small (a) with a small (v), upside down over it ,also capital © with an equal sign (=) right in the middle of the ©. How can I get it to behave?

Other than reinstalling the driver try the following.

Go to Devices and Printers. Right click your Canon Printer > Printer Properties. Under the Advanced tab select Print Processors. In the left pane select in Canon Printer if not highlighted. In the Right pane if the default is RAW try one of the other processors. I would first try NT EFM 1.006. Click apply and reboot.
