My computer is getting old.

I save complete system images to a USB using Macrium Reflect.

I chatted with Microsoft Support about whether I can use a full system image to redeploy 8.1 Pro to a new computer if needed.

They said yes & it will automatically get activated. :)

I have a Microsoft account.

Just thought I would pass this along.

Learn to take screenshots & add them to your posts. :thumbup2:

Learn to use Google Search.  :busy:

Make full system images to restore to if your computer goes bonkers.

The problem you may have an issue with is the new hardware requiring a different set of drivers be it chipset, graphics, networking, etc. The free version of Macrium does not allow one to deploy to new hardware but the paid version does although I have no experience using Redeploy. See the following link.

Sorry if you are already familiar with this.

Hi medab1,

Redeploying an image onto a different system is not recommended, mainly drivers are becoming an issue then as JohnC_21 has mentioned.

The best would be to use a clean installation instead.

Kind regards,
