Hello, I hope I'm in the right section, if not, I'm sorry :c.

Here is my problem, my computer will randomly turn off (as if there is a power cut) and restart on certain games.

Not that randomly in fact, it usually appears during cut scenes and it can appear randomly (but it's really really rare).

Some cut scenes are OK, others are not, so I'm now skipping everything but it's still bothering me :/.

My computer is 4 years old, I've played hundred games and it appears on only 2 games : Black Desert Online/Blade & Soul

Surprisingly, I don't have problems with Blade & Soul anymore, cut scenes are now running fine.

It does not leave any crash dump nor an error message or something, it just restart as nothing happened.

What is strange is that I've played a lot of games which require a lot more resources and I've never had problems so far.

If it's an overheating problem, isn't that strange that I only experience this with certain games ? I've tried monitoring it, but I didn't see any abnormal data :/.

If you have any questions that could help solve this problem, don't hesitate :D.

Thank you.

Aireil

PS : English isn't my native language, thanks for your understanding ;-).

Let's try looking at these 2 sets of reports:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.
If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

Peer Name Resolution Protocol service has problems.
Try this repair: http://www.overclock.net/a/how-to-repair-peer-name-resolution-protocol

I copied it here because the darned page keep giving me pop-unders!

How To Repair Peer Name Resolution Protocol
Posted 7/18/12 Last updated 7/31/12 18,314 views 1 comment
Recently decided to restart my HomeGroup on my Windows 7 machine/network after moving and discovered something had mysteriously broken during travel to the new place. What occured was a total lockout of HomeGroup settings with no viable means of fixing or even leaving the old HomeGroup and its settings.

Symptoms:
HomeGroup was not working correctly.
Unable to leave the HomeGroup or run diagnostics with a happy ending (can not fix).
Unable to make permanent changes to HomeGroup, such as password changes.

Background Info:
This particular case was related to the Repair Peer Name Resolution Protocol in Windows 7, however there maybe many other reasons why HomeGroup doesn't work. Which is why this is a Peer Name Resolution Protocol How-To, not a HomeGroup fix it all.

Now, this is a middle child service.

HomeGroup is dependent on 3 services to run correctly:
1.) Peer Networking Identity Manager
2.) Peer Name Resolution Protocol
3.) Peer Networking Grouping

Pretty much what happens is there is a handshake error and you become locked out of either the Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service, or the ability to edit anything with your HomeGroup. It seems to be either a corrupted configuration or another Windows method of tamper prevention/security.

Solution:
Restarting the services manually may work. This usually does not.

This corrupted configuration file needs to be deleted:
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst

Infact, I have deleted every file in here with no remorse. After this, you should require a simple reboot, AND, run HomeGroup diagnostics, go through to the end and "Refresh HomeGroup."

Solution Addition:
IF you are like me and tried manually starting the services as a different account etc, i.e. you probably changed the default settings for the account user info, you will get this error: 0x806320a1

There is not a lot of information out there for this specifically, but the solution is really simple.

You want to go back to each service and change the Log On As options and log on user to "LOCAL SERVICE" (no quotes) and then edit the password so its blank. You will want to do this on ALL 3 services (don't forget to apply before closing). Then you should start them in the order 1,2,3 above. At his point you should be good to go, to run the HomeGroup self-diagnostics and then choose Refresh HomeGroup.

Only 293 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

Please uninstall XFastLAN (and XFastUSB if it's installed).  These are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link:  http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptd
Manual procedure here:  http://daemonpro-help.com/en/problems_and_solutions/registry_and_sptd_problems.html

NOTE:  The uninstaller may not find the SPTD.sys driver.  Don't worry about it, just let us know in your post.
NOTE2:  The latest version has an SPTD2.sys driver - the uninstaller is on the same page as the SPTD.sys driver - just download the version for W10!

If the crashes continue, please rerun the Admin log file after the next crash and upload it here.
It is much easier for me if you upload a .zip rather than a .rar

Thank you.

The memory dump is from a crash generating program (such as WhoCrashed).

Thanks a lot for this answer ! It was really helpful.

I didn't have any crash for now.

I struggled a bit on the Windows Update part, I had all the possible bugs on it I think, service not starting, service not stopping, not downloading, not searching, not opening, ehehe.

But after hours of fights and reading on forums, all the update went fine ^^.

The uninstaller didn't find SPTD.sys, but guess what, I missed click and install it, so I used the uninstaller :c.

Sorry for the zip part :/.

I don't know what caused it, but it didn't happen with Google Drive.

I was pretty sure it wasn't you (as I have downloaded stuff from you before), but was concerned about hijacks.

I'm not a malware expert, so my technique is just to avoid them (and close the browser when it happens).

There's a server error in the Admin logfile:

The server service was unable to recreate the share My Apps because the directory C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\Library\My Apps no longer exists.

Please run "net share My Apps /delete" to delete the share, or recreate the directory C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\Library\My Apps.

Please follow the advice in the 2nd line (either delete the share or recreate the directory).

Uninstall Windows Live.  If needed, feel free to download and install a fresh copy from it's website.

Lot's of networking errors.

Start by updating all of your wired, wireless, and bluetooth drivers from the manufacturer's website.

I'm running late for work, will try to look at this more this afternoon or in the AM tomorrow.

Good luck!

Not much else that I could see in the logfile.

Most of the rest of the errors there are infrequent and not associated with any event in particular.

See if previous suggestions have helped.  If the crashes continue, then it's most likely a hardware problem (but we'll take another look just to be sure)

Have you been monitoring your temperatures?

If not, please monitor your system's temperatures with this free tool:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Normally desktop temps shouldn't exceed (these are maximum temps when the system is under stress):
CPU - 60ºC
GPU - 80ºC
HDD and other components - 40ºC

HDD ~40°C

(Today is a hot day, maybe it's important ? ^^)

I don't know how to test it just before it crashed as it's pretty random now, is there a way to save the temperatures each x seconds ?

I don't know of a way to save the temps.

What I look for is temps that trend high (as we won't see them when the system crashes).

Yours aren't very high, so I don't suspect temperature is a problem.

Let's wait and see if it crashes again.

If it does, generate the Admin logfile report again

Then start on these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

If it's temps, just watch the temp monitor.

Temps will go up for a while before it crashes - so just leave the temp monitor screen open on your desktop where you can see it.

Another way is to maesure the temps with an IR monitor (immediately after the crash) - but they tend to cost about $30 (US).

You can feel around after the crash - but be VERY CAREFUL not to touch anything (only get close).  I did this once and ended up with 2nd degree burns!

Check the coolers (CPU and GPU) for dirt/dust/hair/etc

Check the fans to make sure that they're working

Check to make sure that the cooler is firmly affixed to the CPU/GPU

Check to make sure that the thermal compound isn't dried up - and is adequate for the job.

Post over in the Internal Hardware forums for more expert advice on troubleshooting temp issues:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/7/internal-hardware/
