Ok, first I'm not overly computer savvy so please bare with me.

I did a search and wandered around the site looking for How to convert a PDF to Word program that will let me edit the Word program, preferably free.

I can usually find answers that work, but not this time.

If there is an answer already here, or if you have an answer can you please help me?

TIA

Al

If you simply want to use the text from the PDF, you can highlight and paste into Word.

In Word 2013 and 2016 you can convert the PDF:

Unfortunately I have office 2007, but thanks.

Maybe Micro Center will have a low cost program, I hope.  :)

What do you mean? If you copy and paste into a Word document it will be text just like you had typed it in - you can edit all you like.

When I copy/paste it shows as an image file, which may be my problem here.

Thanks.

What are you using to display the PDF? If you just highlight text on the screen in the PDF reader, copy it and paste into a word processor like Word, it pastes text.

Maybe this might be easier, considering my lack of knowledge in this area, I'll post the web site and if you want you can see what I'm dealing with.

http://www.wlsta.org./#!fishing

There is a small area that says Fishing Manual, click on that and you'll see what I'm dealing with.

I'm trying to edit this down to bare minimum.

TIA

Not sure why it's on the website as a file without an extension, but if I re-name the download as .PDF and view it in Acrobat Reader DC, I can highlight text and paste it into a word processor as editable text.

Do you mean you want to be able to edit text with the images present then re-save a PDF?

I am trying to eliminate everything but just the information on fishing tactics, I will then print out and laminate so I can keep it on my boat to use as an information source while fishing.

Pictures would be nice but not required.

I just found out from a friend most of it is an image file if that helps.

If that makes any sense.   :)

I'm still not clear how you are viewing the file, but if you have done what I did, and downloaded the file it offers called fishing, all I did was rename the file fishing.pdf and display it in the Acrobat reader. From there I can highlight whatever text I want, copy and paste it as text into the word processor and edit it.

Whether this article offers any help, I'm not sure:

OK, thanks I'll give that a shot, I didn't try renaming it.

I think I'm using microsoft edge to view it..I think.
