Hello,

I'm running Windows 10 Pro (64).  I get the following message popping up every start:

RunDLL

There was a problem starting C:\USERS\A

The specified module could not be found.

                                                  OK

Every solution I have seen posted for months says to edit the registry.  That is not working in this case. Could the message be truncated?  I ask because there is no key with the above exact string but there are several that start out that way but then continue with something after the "USERS\A".

I can't tell that this is causing any trouble, so if it is not a big deal I'll just continue to live with it.

Hi,

Can you generate a report using Autoruns so we can see what Windows its loading?

- Download Autoruns using this link to the desktop
- run the program
- let the program do a scan and the open the Menu Options -> Filter Options... -> unckeck Hide Windows entries
- let the program scan again
- make sure you are located on the Everything tab, open the Menu File -> Save and then save the file autoRuns.arn on the desktop
- please zip the file autoRuns.arn and attach the zip to your post.

Hey Sleepydude (Malware Response Team-Portugal),

Thanks so much for your prompt response!  I have been trying multiple times to follow your instructions.  Autoruns does not behave much like you describe.

"Hide Windows entries" (checked) is grayed out and cannot be changed, even when I "run as administrator".

Also, when I try to save (using diskette icon) the program freezes ("not responding").  I wonder if the line "BdBkpFolder", which is highlighted in pink, has anything to do with that.

Hi,

Sounds more likely that you didn't wait long enough for the initial scan to finish.

Yes my instruction are incomplete the program needs to run as Administrator like you did. What the program says on the status bar, left corner of the window?

The status bar is at the very bottom?  It says (and said) "Ready."   At the far right it says "Microsoft Entries hidden"

Hi,

When you see Ready then change the option to Show Microsoft Entries

Please save the file as Text (*.txt) because I just realize that on recent versions of the program it doesn't allow opening the arn files on a different OS.

I think this is a filtered one.  I lost track.  I guess I'll give up.  Thanks for trying.

Please don't give up we can use a different tool.

  • Download Comodo Cleaning Essentials please select the download option that matches your Operating System 32-bits or 64-bits
  • extract the zip file cce_x.x.xxxxx.xxx_x??.zip to some folder
  • open the CCE folder extracted from the Zip and execute Autoruns. Wait for the program to finish scanning (will show Ready on the bottom left of the window)
  • open the menu File -> Save -> accept the suggested name AutoRunsData.ard and save the file to the Desktop
  • zip the file AutoRunsData.ard located on the Desktop and attach the AutoRunsData.zip to your post
