I want to install BG1 NPC for my Steam version of BGEE, but I'm not sure I should. Will it mess up Steam? It was recommended to me by people on Steam and seems to run so well that no one has seemed to post with any problems.

Heh, I don't even know how to test it for viruses because I've gotten so used to the MS firewall. I guess I need to read about what the best freeware anti virus is right now?

ETA: A link might help! http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/

Okay, so I chose two free programs recommended by BC to check for viruses etc and I'm having a hard time parsing the result. I think it means its cool to run, but...

Spybot scanned my entire computer including the downloaded file and only found nothing in this file. Only some unrelated stuff in a shockwave folder. I guess that's why everyone is down on Flash these days? Anyway, fixed.

Virustotal analyzed the file and Jianmin found a trojandownloader  of some sort. I think. Maybe. Is that what it's saying there? Because AVG and 51 other companies did not find anything. So am I looking at it all wrong?

Spybot hasn't been updated in quite a while. It's pointless compared with just about any other AV software that is updated.

A mod for Baldur's Gate will not affect Steam, even if you download it through Steam Workshop.

That red flag from Virus Total might be a false positive. The mod may have been "packed" with the same packer that virus writers use.

Are you lacking virus software Ubiq? I can make some recommendations.
