I've been trying to find out the source of the FlashPlayer.exe popup on my system, so I've tried to run the ESET online scanner. It found some non-critical things, but as ESET continued to scan, the ESET screen disappeared. The outline remains, but there's no text. I stopped it a couple of times before, but I just now let it run about six hours. It shows CPU usage in Task Manager, but it never refreshes the screen. I had to end it in Task Manager again. The system is Windows 7 on an i7 with 16 GB memory. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

Some online scanners will detect existing anti-virus software and refuse to cooperate. In some cases you may have to disable the real-time protection components of your existing anti-virus if you encounter a problem and try running the scan again.

ESET Online Scanner FAQs #5

If you have other antivirus, antispyware or anti-malware programs running on your computer, they may intercept the scan being performed by the ESET Online Scanner and hinder performance. You may wish to disable the real-time protection components of your other security software before running the ESET Online Scanner. Remember to turn them back on after you are finished.

Thanks. That was the problem. I apologize for not noticing that before I posted.
